Description
Perfect for a clipped low formal hedge or as a pyramid, globe or other topiary shapes, the Baby Gem Boxwood is a cute little gem that fits nicely in smaller garden spaces. Can be maintained at 24 inches tall and wide with pruning or left to grow natural to about 3-4 feet wide and tall. Exceptionally heat and cold tolerant. The evergreen, lustrous, deep green foliage contrasts nicely with the light green new leaves.
Landscape & Garden Uses
With no pruning, the Baby Gem Boxwood grows to about 2 to 4 feet tall and wide. That said, it responds very well to shearing into formal shapes, which are a distinctive note in the landscape, or as a low hedge to 24 inches tall and wide. Also nice in small to large groups or to accentuate an entryway by planting one on either side. Perfect as a pyramid shape that can serve as a small Christmas tree. Also serves as a nice centerpiece in pots, planter and other containers of 12 inches or more in diameter.
Suggested Spacing:  24 inches for solid hedges;  6 feet or more for space between plants

How Many Plants Needed To Cover A Planting Area?
Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Boxwood variety is not reliably winter hardy outdoors, you can enjoy growing it in containers that can be moved indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
The Baby Gem Boxwood is easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. It adapts to most soil types and likes full sun or part shade. It prefers a well-drained soil and will only need some water during drought or prolonged periods with no rain. As with many other plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. In our gardens, we’ve found it to have better drought, heat and pest tolerance than many other boxwood.

Could not find these little box woods at any local nursery. You had what we wanted. We were concerned about buying plants this size for mail order delivery. The plants arrived on time, and wonderfully packed and in nursery quality when unpacked. Plants were healthy and not one was damaged in shipment. They are in the ground and look great. ————————— WBG Reply: Hi Warren – Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review of the Baby Gem Boxwoods and for the compliments.
